In a politically charged session, the Rajya Sabha witnessed intense verbal clashes between the ruling and opposition benches on Monday. Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge attempted to spotlight their grievances against the Election Commission, prompting a swift objection from House Leader J P Nadda who deemed the issue unrelated to the day's agenda.
The Upper House has been marred by frequent adjournments due to disputes over Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR). When proceedings resumed at 2 pm, opposition members who had been detained while marching toward the Election Commission were notably absent as discussions on the Manipur Appropriation Bill, 2025, and the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, commenced.
As the debate continued, opposition leaders like Kharge sought to air grievances over their thwarted protest. Despite their persistent demands and accusations of undermining democracy, the House pressed on with its legislative business amid continued protests and a brief adjournment.
