In a decisive move, the government has passed eight Bills amid sustained disruptions by opposition parties during the ongoing session of Parliament. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the repeated interruptions, accusing opposition leaders of prioritizing headlines over substantial legislative debates.
Addressing media in a press briefing, Rijiju suggested the ruling government might conclude the Monsoon session earlier than planned. Such prospects have arisen due to repeated protests from opposition members demanding discussions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar — a subject the government has dismissed as inappropriate for parliamentary debate.
Despite the commotion, key legislation, including Bills on sports governance, anti-doping regulations, and tax amendments, were successfully passed. Rijiju emphasized that the government remains committed to progressing with its legislative agenda, inviting opposition participation instead of hostility.
