Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will launch a yatra on Sunday aimed at highlighting the alleged infringement of voting rights due to the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, according to a senior party official on Saturday.
In a press conference, former state Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh announced that Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will potentially remain in the state for over two weeks. The 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' will culminate with a rally in Patna on September 1.
Launching from Sasaram, the yatra seeks to generate momentum for the INDIA bloc ahead of assembly elections. It will cover 25 districts with notable breaks, as Rahul Gandhi is anticipated to have alliances, including with Tejashwi Yadav and other supportive parties, to raise awareness about the alleged deletion of voters.
