The Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are on the verge of forming an alliance for the upcoming local body polls in Maharashtra. Despite discussions being in advanced stages, a final decision will likely be made close to the election dates, according to party leaders.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has openly supported the prospective alliance. Still, his cousin, MNS president Raj Thackeray, maintains a cautious approach. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut announced a potential alliance for key civic polls in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, though the MNS has yet to confirm its stance officially.
Collectively contesting the BEST's credit society polls, the two parties formed the 'Utkarsh panel' comprising 21 members, featuring representatives from both factions and an association of SC and STs. While questions about mutual trust linger due to past conflicts, both sides agree that collaboration is critical to revitalize their electoral influence following recent setbacks.
