Amid a backdrop of increasing global tensions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting India to explore new confidence-building measures along their shared, disputed border. This visit underscores ongoing efforts to repair diplomatic relations following the 2020 clashes in Galwan Valley.

During his two-day stay, Wang Yi is scheduled to hold Special Representatives dialogue talks with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. These talks aim at reviewing the current situation along the Line of Actual Control, with both countries maintaining a significant military presence in eastern Ladakh.

Besides boundary talks, the visit sets the stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The move showcases both nations' commitment to working towards rebuilding diplomatic ties strained in recent years.
