In a tragic turn of events, seven people lost their lives, and one was injured when unidentified gunmen ambushed a group of friends returning from a picnic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Police reported the incident on Sunday, detailing the brutal attack that occurred in Regi Shino Khel, a suburban area of Kohat district, located about 65 kilometers southwest of Peshawar.
The victims were targeted while making their way back from Tanda Dam to their native village of Khara Ghari Muhammad Zai. According to officials, the assailants opened fire unexpectedly, causing chaos and devastation. Rescue 1122 and police contingents swiftly moved to the scene, transferring the bodies and the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital Kohat. Tragically, one injured individual required further specialized treatment and was later referred to a hospital in Peshawar.
Authorities confirmed that those affected were all friends, heightening the immediate emotional impact of the incident. The assailants managed to flee, prompting a comprehensive search operation to locate them. Law enforcement has launched investigations to unveil the motive behind this heinous act and have already registered a case to advance their inquiries.
