BJP MLA Ganesh Naik has sparked controversy with comments about Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, remarking that Shinde 'won a lottery' by becoming Maharashtra's chief minister in 2022. This was stated during a bhoomi pujan ceremony, highlighting public scrutiny on leaders' pathways to power.

Naik, reflecting on his tenure as the guardian minister of Thane, recalled his collaboration with the late Vishnu Savra, late BJP MP Chintaman Wanga, and Shinde within the District Planning and Development Council (DPDC). The event saw attendance from Shiv Sena MLAs and BJP MP Hemant Savara.

This is not Naik's first critique of Shinde. In July, Naik accused non-residents of exploiting Navi Mumbai's resources, indirectly targeting Shinde. This comes after the latter ousted the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in 2022 and shortly served as CM before Devendra Fadnavis assumed leadership roles post-2024 elections.
