On Sunday, senior leaders from Jharkhand's BJP chapter commended former state governor C P Radhakrishnan for being named the National Democratic Alliance's candidate for Vice President. His extensive political career is viewed as an asset to the nation's governance.

BJP Chief Babulal Marandi emphasized Radhakrishnan's dedication to democratic principles, predicting his positive impact on the parliamentary system's robustness. During his tenure from February 2023 to July 2024, Radhakrishnan served as Jharkhand's governor, offering 'visionary guidance' according to Union Minister Sanjay Seth.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, BJP President J P Nadda announced Radhakrishnan's nomination which emerged after thorough discussion. The election, prompted by previous incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, is set for September 9, with nominations closing on August 22.
