In a sharp political exchange, Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar took aim at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav following his critical remarks about the Election Commission. Rajbhar advised Yadav to seek legal recourse if he harbored doubts about the poll body's integrity, asserting that the Commissioner had clarified the situation in a recent press briefing.
Yadav had earlier urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to embrace transparency and reform, citing undue pressures on the institution. He encouraged a major transformation within the Commission, envisioning it as the guardian of democratic values.
Meanwhile, Rajbhar also called on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to apologize for what he described as unfounded allegations against the globally respected Election Commission. He accused Gandhi of undermining the integrity of the electoral process for political gain.
