Amid a turbulent political landscape, allegations of electoral fraud have sparked widespread debate in India. JMM Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji has called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address growing doubts about its impartiality amidst contentious allegations of vote theft raised by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.

Defending Gandhi's remarks, Maji underscored the opposition's duty to safeguard democratic principles and urged the ECI to function transparently, reminiscent of TN Seshan's tenure as a model of neutrality. She stressed that without transparency, public trust in electoral processes could be undermined.

Gandhi's criticisms, articulated during his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar, highlighted concerns about the integrity of the electoral system, warning officials of potential repercussions. He linked alleged election malpractices to broader constitutional violations, a stance contested by CEC Gyanesh Kumar, who demanded evidence or an apology for the claims.
