On Tuesday, the BJP accused the Congress party of fabricating claims regarding voter fraud and collaborating with a Delhi-based think tank. This think tank is alleged to receive foreign funding aimed at influencing Indian elections through political entities opposed to national interests, the BJP claimed.

The controversy erupted after psephologist Sanjay Kumar from the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) mistakenly posted flawed voter data from two Maharashtra assembly seats on X, the social media platform, regarding last year's state elections. On Tuesday, Kumar deleted the post and issued an apology for his error.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticized the opposition's reliance on what he described as "false data," labeling it a dangerous tactic to undermine the Election Commission. Meanwhile, Kumar apologized for the misinformation, citing an unintentional error made by his data team.
