Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, extended his congratulations on Tuesday to retired Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy, following his nomination as the joint opposition candidate for the Vice Presidential elections. Gandhi highlighted Reddy's notable legal career, emphasizing his dedication to preserving constitutional values and championing justice.

Speaking at a press conference, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge praised the collective decision by opposition parties to endorse Reddy, describing it as a triumph of democracy. Kharge reaffirmed the opposition's commitment to unity in the face of perceived threats to democratic and constitutional principles.

The INDIA bloc of the opposition, supported by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has labeled the Vice Presidential election as an ideological contest against the NDA. Reddy, a former Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court who retired from the Supreme Court in 2011, will face NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan on September 9.
