In a surprising turn of events, psephologist Sanjay Kumar, co-director of Lokniti-CSDS, apologized for a data error concerning the Maharashtra elections. The issued clarification came after an incorrect post on X, which was later deleted, triggering political tensions in the state.
Kumar explained to ANI that assembly constituency data errors occurred due to incorrect comparisons between constituency numbers. He noted an unusual increase in voter numbers between the Lok Sabha and assembly elections, attributed to voter list updates.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took the opportunity to criticize Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who had alleged discrepancies in the upcoming state assembly elections based on the inaccurate data. Fadnavis demanded an apology, calling Gandhi a serial liar and emphasizing that the real truth is now public.
