Kerala MLA Faces Calls for Resignation Amid Allegations of Obscene Conduct

In the wake of serious allegations of inappropriate behavior, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty on Thursday called for Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil to resign from his legislative post. The accusations stem from claims by writer Honey Bhaskaran and model Rini Ann George regarding Mamkootathil's alleged misconduct.

Sivankutty highlighted the severe nature of the allegations and asserted that public representatives must answer to society. The minister assured that the government stands ready to provide full support and protection to the women involved, insisting that their privacy will be safeguarded during the judicial process.

Further, Sivankutty stressed the legal obligation for party leaders aware of the allegations to report them to law enforcement, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. He reiterated that merely resigning from organizational roles does not suffice and that Mamkootathil should apologize publicly and resign from his MLA position.
