Prominent CPI leader and MLA Vazhoor Soman passed away suddenly on Thursday due to a cardiac arrest, according to party sources. He was 72.

Vazhoor Soman, who represented Peerumade in Idukki district, was attending a revenue assembly meeting when he collapsed. Kerala Revenue Minister K Rajan reported that the incident occurred at PTP Nagar as Soman was descending the steps of a building.

Efforts to save him proved unsuccessful, and his body will be transported to the CPI state headquarters. There, party members and the public will have the opportunity to pay their respects before his remains are sent to his constituency.
