A peace march took place in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district, Sangamner, on Thursday, denouncing the alleged threats made against senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat.
The threat, reportedly issued by Sangram Bhandare, a known kirtankar, invoked Nathuram Godse, infamous for assassinating Mahatma Gandhi. The march concluded at New Nagar Road and saw participation from various social and political groups.
Addressing the assembly, Thorat urged authorities to take firm action against actions disrupting peace, criticizing the misuse of religion in local politics and the rising climate of fear. Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal echoed these sentiments, accusing the BJP of fostering divisive rhetoric.
