Election Commission Defends Voter List Exclusion in Bihar
The Election Commission (EC) has reported to the Supreme Court that details of 65 lakh voters excluded from Bihar's draft roll have been made publicly accessible online and offline. The omission reasons include death, relocation, or duplicate entries, amid challenges questioning the EC's directive requiring proof of citizenship for voting.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, revealing that it has uploaded the details of approximately 65 lakh voters omitted from Bihar's draft electoral roll to the websites of all 38 District Electoral Officers.
The list outlines reasons for their non-inclusion, citing factors such as death, change of residence, or duplicate entries. The ECI has also ensured that physical copies of the list are available at Panchayat Bhavans, block development offices, and village Panchayat offices for public review.
Advertisements announcing the availability of these lists were disseminated through newspapers, radio, television, and social media. The ECI confirmed compliance with the Supreme Court's August 14 directive to publish detailed, booth-wise lists during Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR), allowing voters to contest their exclusion with Aadhaar card submissions.
