The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday fiercely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he visited West Bengal to unveil infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,200 crore. However, the focus shifted quickly from development to politics, as TMC MP Mahua Moitra challenged Modi with five pressing questions.
In a video statement, Moitra accused Modi of acting like a 'migratory bird,' visiting the state only during election season. She demanded clarity on why the government introduced Bills allowing the removal of prime ministers and chief ministers under arrest for over 30 days, questioning the moral authority behind the move, and suggested it threatens opposition-ruled states.
Moitra's questions also addressed discrepancies in electoral rolls, discrimination against Bengali migrants, and the Centre's financial dues to Bengal. She emphasized concerns over language discrimination, pointing to a controversial stance by the Delhi Police on the Bengali language, and called for answers on these critical issues.
