The Congress-led UDF has launched a vehement critique against the Kerala state government following a series of alleged custodial torture cases. They have called for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to relinquish the Home portfolio amid mounting allegations of police misconduct.
Congress legislator Roji M John accused the CM of dismissing police misconduct as isolated events, which he argues has led to the deterioration of the state's Home Department. His criticisms were raised during an adjournment motion notice regarding the alleged incidents.
The opposition referenced various reported incidents at stations in Kunnamkulam, Peechi, and Kundara, demanding the removal of accused officers. The ruling LDF agreed to discuss the issue, which was brought to light after the surfacing of CCTV footage showing alleged abuse of a Youth Congress leader.
