The Puducherry Assembly's one-day session descended into chaos, concluding just 45 minutes after it commenced, due to protests from opposition legislators over the session's brief duration.
As the session began, Speaker R Selvam made obituary references to notable figures such as Pope Francis and former Indian leaders, with members observing a moment of silence. However, unrest soon followed when opposition DMK and Congress MLAs staged a protest, demanding a longer session to discuss critical public issues, including safe drinking water and insurance for the poor.
