The United States is making efforts to regain control of the Bagram air base in Afghanistan, as revealed by President Donald Trump during a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

This Soviet-era airstrip served as the primary operations base for U.S. forces in Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, up until their withdrawal in 2021, which subsequently led to the Taliban reclaiming control.

President Trump emphasized the strategic importance of the base, particularly due to its proximity to China, stating, "We're trying to get it back. We want that base back."
