Election Commission Rebuts Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations of Voter Deletion

The Election Commission (EC) has strongly rebutted accusations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is safeguarding those involved in fraudulent voter deletions, referring to them as 'vote chors'.

The EC clarified that deletions cannot occur without due process and highlighted that Gandhi's assertions are unfounded. Gandhi cited data from a Karnataka Assembly constituency to bolster his claim of a targeted campaign against Congress votes. In response, the EC cited thorough investigations exposing nearly 6,000 fraudulent voter deletion applications, stressing that only 24 were genuine.

Additionally, an FIR was filed, and comprehensive details were given to the state CID. Moreover, the state Chief Electoral Officer confirmed the exchange of pertinent information with the local authorities to aid ongoing probes and ensure transparency in electoral processes.
