In a dramatic turn of events, former Nepalese Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has transitioned from army protection to a private residence. This move comes after spending nine days under the Nepal Army's watch following violent protests by the Gen Z movement.
The unrest escalated on September 9 when Oli's house in Balkot was set ablaze by the protesters. At the time, the Prime Minister's Office was also partially burned. Thanks to a timely intervention by the Nepal Army, Oli was evacuated safely by helicopter.
Many other political leaders took refuge under army protection, though most have since resumed normalcy. Meanwhile, Nepal prepares for Constitution Day celebrations amidst ongoing tensions, as the government organizes events to commemorate the occasion on September 19.
