In a recent development, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has strongly criticized the law and order situation in Goa, following a brutal attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar. The incident, which occurred in Caranzalem, highlights growing concerns over safety in the region.
On Thursday afternoon, six individuals assaulted Kankonkar, with five of the accused now in police custody. Authorities continue to search for a sixth suspect. The attack has prompted widespread outrage, with Kejriwal pointing to a systemic failure under the BJP governance, exacerbated by issues like gang wars and drug proliferation.
Kankonkar is currently receiving medical care at Goa Medical College and Hospital. Political leaders and social activists have rallied in support, urging for stringent action. Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that all involved will face the 'strictest punishment'.
