The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to shift public attention from the assault on activist Rama Kankonkar. This follows allegations from the BJP that AAP MLA Venzy Viegas had trespassed into their Panaji office during a protest.
State BJYM chief Tushar Kelkar's statements, which include a reminder of the vast BJYM membership of one lakh, have been met with defiance from AAP. Chetan Kamat, AAP Goa's vice president, urged Kelkar to draw inspiration from former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's teachings on public conduct and leadership.
AAP's youth wing president, Rohan Naik, confirmed that a police complaint has been lodged against Kelkar due to the alleged threats. Meanwhile, seven individuals, including history-sheeter Zenito Cardoso, have been arrested concerning the attack on Kankonkar in Panaji's Caranzalem locality.
