Hopes and Strains in Gaza: A New Push for Peace
Officials from Hamas and Israel meet in Egypt for talks aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza and releasing hostages. U.S. President Donald Trump supports a 20-point peace plan, promising quick results. However, ongoing attacks and unresolved issues continue to challenge negotiations.

Hamas representatives and Israeli officials converged in Egypt on Monday, engaging in discussions that the U.S. anticipates will bring an end to hostilities in Gaza and secure the release of hostages. As part of President Donald Trump's peace framework, Israeli negotiators are set to arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh for further talks.
Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Israel's chief negotiator, is expected to join later, contingent on progression in the dialogues, according to insiders. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed optimism, suggesting the effectiveness of technical talks will reveal Hamas's commitment.
Despite promising diplomatic efforts, Israeli strikes in Gaza persisted, with local sources reporting significant casualties. The situation remains tense as divergent views emerge within Israel's political landscape on whether to support or challenge the ceasefire efforts initiated by the Trump administration.
