BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Sankar Ghosh were allegedly heckled and attacked by locals during their visit to the flood-afflicted Nagrakata region in North Bengal's Jalpaiguri district. Murmu sustained injuries and was hospitalized amidst escalating political tensions.

BJP leaders posted videos on social media showing Murmu with injuries, accusing Trinamool Congress supporters of orchestrating the violence. They contended that their vehicle was vandalized and Murmu was physically assaulted by the locals.

The BJP criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her administration for the incident, suggesting that the political climate in West Bengal is deteriorating. In response, local government representatives attributed the attack to BJP's approach to disaster relief as mere publicity stunts without real support for the affected residents.
