The Election Commission announced that the Ghatshila (ST) assembly constituency will go to polls on November 11, in conjunction with Bihar's second phase elections.
This follows the death of Jharkhand's Education Minister Ramdas Soren on August 15, leaving the seat vacant. The official gazette notification for the by-election is slated for October 13, with nomination submissions closing on October 21 and withdrawal by October 24. Votes will be counted on November 14.
The EC has emphasized the necessity of an updated electoral roll for transparent elections, carrying out a Special Summary Revision for Ghatshila, effective July 1, 2025. The final roll was published on September 29, with continuous updates planned until the nomination deadline. EVMs and VVPATs will be used at polling stations.
