The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the vandalism at its Tripura office. The TMC alleged the incident is an orchestrated act of 'state-sponsored political terrorism' under BJP's rule.
Addressing the media at Trinamool Bhavan in West Bengal, Shashi Panja, a state minister, announced that a TMC delegation is visiting Tripura to evaluate the situation post-attack in Agartala, the former stronghold of ex-Chief Minister Biplab Deb. Panja criticized the BJP's governance in Tripura, claiming it contradicts their democratic assertions, and accused the police of being complicit by inaction during the vandalism.
TMC's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, condemned the attacks, highlighting past violence against him in Tripura. Panja further accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of hypocrisy for his contrasting statements on democracy, and pointed out alleged BJP-induced divides between Bengalis in West Bengal and Tripura.
