President Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope for the resolution of U.S. sanctions imposed on Turkey, as well as the resolution of issues surrounding its purchase of F-35 jets and the legal case involving Halkbank. His comments came after discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Erdogan, speaking to reporters aboard his return flight from Azerbaijan, noted that his recent visit to the White House signified a new chapter in bilateral ties between the U.S. and Turkey.
According to a transcript of Erdogan's remarks, which was circulated by his office, President Trump reportedly assured him that the "Halkbank problem is finished", albeit with some procedures yet to be completed. Erdogan expressed a positive outlook on the outcome of these procedures.
