In a significant political reunion, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met veteran leader Azam Khan after his release from Sitapur jail. The meeting was held at Khan's residence in Rampur, marking their first encounter post-incarceration.
Yadav traveled from Lucknow to meet Khan and was greeted at the Maulana Jauhar University campus helipad by Khan himself. Despite rampant speculation about Khan's political future, including rumors of a switch to the Bahujan Samaj Party, Khan has dismissed these claims, emphasizing his allegiance to the Samajwadi Party.
Khan, a ten-time MLA from Rampur, has numerous pending criminal charges, which he argues are politically driven. His release came after the Allahabad High Court granted him bail in a land encroachment case. Yadav, reinforcing party solidarity, stated that all false charges against Khan would be dismissed once they secure power in Uttar Pradesh.
