The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is facing internal tensions after recently announcing seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming assembly elections. Dissent has emerged from smaller allies such as Hindustani Awam Morcha, led by Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, headed by Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha.
According to the announcement made on Sunday, the NDA's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and the BJP will each contest 101 seats, leaving the rest for smaller parties. Consequently, the allies have expressed disenchantment over the allocation, with both Manjhi and Kushwaha publicly acknowledging their disappointment.
In contrast, the state Congress spokesperson criticized the arrangement, claiming it indicates that the BJP is overshadowing JD(U). The evolving dynamics suggest a potential shift in power within the coalition as election day approaches.
