BSP leader Mayawati has issued strong criticism against the Congress and Samajwadi Party, accusing them of political insincerity regarding women's reservation for the SC, ST, and OBC categories. She argued that neither party took significant initiatives during their terms, yet they now vocalize support for the cause.
In her statement, Mayawati highlighted the lack of action from Congress regarding the Mandal Commission's report on OBC reservation during their central government tenure, and criticized the Samajwadi Party for shelving the report of the Backward Classes Commission in Uttar Pradesh before it was implemented by the BSP government.
She called for vigilance among SC, ST, and OBC communities against seemingly double-sided political parties and expressed support for the timely implementation of women's reservation by 2029, as part of the current parliamentary debate, while stressing community self-reliance and strength.
