BJP Seeks EC Action Over Kharge's 'Terrorist' Remark Against Modi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called on the Election Commission (EC) to take urgent action over Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's recent controversial remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP termed Kharge's comment as "terrorist" and urged the EC to ensure a public apology from Kharge.

In a memorandum submitted to the poll panel, the BJP demanded that "suitable penal and regulatory proceedings" be initiated against Kharge under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The party highlighted the need for "appropriate campaign restrictions" to be imposed on Kharge.

The BJP's appeal came after Kharge accused Modi of misusing government machinery to intimidate opposition parties. Meanwhile, prominent BJP figures, including Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijiju, plan to meet with the EC to discuss the issue in detail.
