Italy's government has formally protested to Russia following derogatory comments made by a pro-Kremlin TV personality against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The remarks, deemed extremely serious, were aired by Vladimir Solovyev, who insulted Meloni with vulgarities and accused her of political betrayal.

Solovyev's attack included calling Meloni a "certified idiot" in Italian and branding her "fascist scum" in Russian. These comments have prompted swift diplomatic action from Italy, as noted by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who summoned Russia's ambassador to express the country's formal discontent.

Prime Minister Meloni's leadership, marked by her right-wing coalition's support for Ukraine, contrasts with the Kremlin-friendly stance of some allies like the League party. Additionally, Meloni has publicly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump and distanced herself from certain international conflicts, further complicating her political alliances.
