Amman K Arjunan, the AIADMK candidate for Coimbatore South, staged a protest on Wednesday against claims of cash-for-votes by his rival, former state minister V Senthil Balaji.
Arjunan asserted that individuals associated with Balaji were distributing money to voters, a claim Balaji dismissed without evidence. Arjunan staged a dharna outside the Coimbatore district collectorate, calling for action against these alleged breaches of electoral conduct.
AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan indicated crores of rupees in seizures, questioning the integrity of the election process. District Collector Pawan Kumar assured that 116 flying squads and 90 surveillance teams are actively monitoring the situation since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
