The political landscape in Delhi saw fresh developments as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced its decision to nominate Jalaj Kumar Chaudhary for the MCD's Standing Committee while choosing to abstain from the mayoral elections.

Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj defended this strategic decision, indicating it would ensure the BJP takes accountability for MCD's performance, labeling the BJP's governance as ineffective. Meanwhile, allegations of division within AAP ranks surfaced, suggesting internal challenges.

As the mayoral election nears, with 273 votes up for grabs and requiring 137 to win, the BJP's stronghold at 123 councillors puts them in a pivotal position. Elections rest on the horizon, scheduled for April 29 amidst a dynamic political atmosphere.
