Polling began for assembly bypolls in Baramati and Rahuri, Maharashtra, starting at 7 am until 6 pm, according to election officials.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, contesting in Baramati, is appealing for votes in honor of her late husband, Ajit Pawar, following his untimely death last January.
In Rahuri, Akshay Kardile faces competition from NCP's Govind Mokate and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's Santosh Chalke. This by-election stems from the death of BJP MLA Shivaji Kardile last October.
