Peaceful Voting Underway in Nandigram Amid Tight Security

West Bengal's political climate heated up as Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition, cast his vote in Nandigram on Thursday morning. Lauding the Election Commission's arrangements, Adhikari voted at booth number 79 in the Purba Medinipur district.
Speaking to the press post-vote, he highlighted the importance of ensuring peaceful polling, stating, 'I pray for peaceful voting. They (TMC) could not create much disturbance, nor will they be able to.' As the night preceding voting is typically tense, Adhikari showed appreciation for the security efforts.
Adhikari is vying for a second term from Nandigram and simultaneously challenging Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur in the upcoming polls. Across 152 constituencies and 16 districts, voting is ongoing with substantial security arrangements to maintain order.
