Senior DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran expressed strong confidence on Thursday about his party's potential to win a consecutive term in the Tamil Nadu state elections. Maran, while casting his vote in Chennai, underlined the public desire for the DMK's return to power.
As polls opened at 7 AM, the DMK is contending with the incumbent AIADMK, with TVK led by actor-politician Vijay and NTK headed by Tamil nationalist Seeman also in the fray. The election is a critical test for these political forces.
Maran emphasized the theme of good governance and characterized the elections as a strategic contest, pitting the state's priorities against what he termed as 'evil Delhi'. Maran currently serves as a parliamentarian from Chennai Central in the Lok Sabha.
