Gujarat Gears Up: Local Body Elections Spotlight Future Political Landscape

In Gujarat, voters headed to the polls as major local body elections took center stage, setting the backdrop for next year's state assembly elections. This electoral event involves selection processes across 15 municipal corporations including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot, as well as 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats.

Major political figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, actively participated by casting their votes, emphasizing the significance of public engagement in the democratic process. Shah, joined by his family, voted in Ahmedabad, while Patel exercised his franchise in Shilaj, encouraging citizens to vote.

With more than 4.18 crore eligible voters, the elections see a contest primarily among the ruling BJP, the Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party.
