A recent poll indicates that Colombia's left-wing coalition is expected to maintain power, with Ivan Cepeda leading the presidential race at 44.3% support. The poll, conducted by Invamer and published by Noticias Caracol and Blu Radio, shows a divided right-wing opposition which could benefit Cepeda in the June runoff.
The survey, based on 3,800 personal interviews, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2%. Cepeda has gained 7.2 percentage points since February, while opposition candidates Paloma Valencia and Abelardo De La Espriella stand at 19.8% and 21.5%, respectively. In potential runoffs, Cepeda holds a substantial lead.
With more than 41 million Colombians set to vote on May 31, Cepeda is committed to continuing social reforms aimed at reducing poverty and inequality, aligning with President Gustavo Petro's 'change government' agenda. The election's outcome could significantly shape Colombia's political future.
