North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pledged continued support for Russia's policies, as he discussed enhancing military ties with Moscow. This announcement was made public by North Korean state media, KCNA, indicating a long-lasting collaboration that could extend beyond the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

A Russian delegation, including Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, attended a ceremony for a memorial dedicated to North Korean soldiers who died in Russia's Kursk region. The region was site of an incursion by Ukrainian forces in 2024. Belousov echoed sentiments of ongoing military cooperation, agreeing with North Korean officials on a cooperation plan for 2027 to 2031.

Analysts suggest that North Korea and Russia's alignment is set to persist, evolving into an institutional alliance. As part of their bolstered ties, North Korea has sent troops to Russia in support, despite suffering significant casualties. The nations are reinforcing their strategic partnership, which includes military and economic exchanges, as highlighted by formal agreements and ceremonial gatherings.
