The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has filed a writ petition with the Calcutta High Court, alleging misconduct by Police Observer Parmar Smit Parshottamdas. The TMC accuses him of having an undisclosed meeting with BJP candidate Gour Ghosh during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections.
The petition, presented by TMC leader Rajeev Kumar, points to the 142-Magrahat Paschim Assembly constituency, where Ghosh is a candidate. It claims the officer breached his duty of neutrality and independence by meeting the candidate unofficially.
The TMC also alleged that Parshottamdas violated protocol by staying at an unapproved location, where the meeting reportedly took place. CCTV footage submitted as evidence highlights the severity of the accusation, indicating a need for judicial scrutiny to maintain electoral fairness.
