BJD Urges Disqualification of Rebel MLAs Over Anti-Party Activities

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has intensified its campaign to disqualify eight suspended MLAs, accusing them of engaging in anti-party activities by supporting a rival party candidate during the Rajya Sabha elections.

A delegation led by Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik submitted a petition to Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, invoking the anti-defection law under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.

The party aims to set a legal precedent against the legislators who allegedly distanced themselves from the BJD and ignored its official directives, pushing for their disqualification and potential by-elections.
