Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spearheaded a vibrant roadshow in south Kolkata on Monday afternoon, rallying support just hours before campaigning ended for the second phase of the West Bengal assembly elections. Accompanying her were TMC's Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose and candidates Aroop Biswas and Debasish Kumar from Tollygunge and Rashbehari constituencies.
The roadshow attracted considerable attention, with people gathered along the path and on rooftops. They waved enthusiastically as Banerjee greeted them with folded hands, maintaining a brisk pace that challenged her companions to keep up. Addressing this show of strength, TMC supporters carried flags, banners, and cutouts of the chief minister, creating a festive atmosphere along the route.
Currently contesting from Bhabanipur, Banerjee faces off against BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, her opponent from the 2021 Nandigram elections. The procession began at Sukanta Setu in Jadavpur and was scheduled to conclude at Gopalnagar crossing, drawing to a close near Banerjee's Kalighat residence.
