Health Crisis of Imprisoned Tunisian Leader Rached Ghannouchi Sparks Outcry

Rached Ghannouchi, the imprisoned Tunisian opposition leader, has been urgently transferred to a hospital following a sharp downturn in his health, according to his Ennahda party.

Ghannouchi, 84, a staunch opponent of President Kais Saied and a key figure in Tunisian politics since the 2011 uprising, faces sentences totaling 70 years, which he claims are politically motivated.

Despite being part of a broader crackdown on dissent, Ghannouchi's condition has raised alarm among international rights groups urging his release. Tunisian authorities have yet to comment.
