In a tense political move, Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has taken the Punjab government to court over the withdrawal of his security cover. This development follows Singh's recent defection from AAP to the BJP with six other MPs, which has sparked unrest.
Singh, formerly known as a celebrated cricketer, claims that the withdrawal of his security was done in an arbitrary manner, lacking any new threat assessment. He highlights an incident where his Jalandhar residence was attacked by a mob, a situation reportedly overlooked by local police.
Protests by AAP workers have further escalated tensions, with accusations of political vendetta flying. Singh argues that the withdrawal of his security threatens not only his safety but also that of his family, urging for a more structured reduction if necessary.
