In the wake of the recent West Bengal assembly elections, alleged incidents of post-poll violence have been reported across several districts, including South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Malda, and North 24 Parganas. A senior police officer confirmed the continuation of tension in these areas on Friday.
In Bhangar, South 24 Parganas, a TMC worker claimed ISF supporters set fire to his shop, sparking clashes. Meanwhile, BJP supporters in Falta blocked NH-117, alleging assault and obstruction during voting. Similarly, violence erupted in Murshidabad, with a CPI(M) polling agent attacked, leading to allegations of police inaction. Malda district also saw a BJP leader injured in an alleged TMC attack.
With the state's highest-ever voter turnout of 92.84% reported, all eyes are on Monday's election results. Police have deployed additional forces to prevent further escalation, while political parties exchange heated allegations amid the unrest.
