The Election Commission announced on Friday that a repoll will take place in 15 polling stations across two assembly constituencies in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. This decision follows significant reports of electoral malpractices.
Slated for May 2, the repolls will cover 11 polling stations in the Magrahat Paschim constituency and four in Diamond Harbour. The commission is currently deciding on holding a repoll in the Falta constituency, awaiting further reports from the assembly segment, according to an EC official.
Tensions are rising as the BJP accuses the TMC of malpractices. The repoll decision has triggered competing narratives: TMC alleging that BJP's defeat fears fuel these demands, while the BJP supports the decision to ensure fair elections.
